UK Biocentres Clinical Advisor Dr Malur Sudhanva is recognised in New Year Honours.
UK Biocentre’s Lead Clinical Advisor, Dr Malur Sudhanva, has been awarded an OBE at the NY Honours in recognition of his outstanding work for services to healthcare science during the COVID-19 pandemic. This recognises both his role as a consultant and member of staff at King’s College London, as well as for his role as Lead Clinical Advisor for the Lighthouse Laboratories and advisor for the NIHR UK Biocentre based in Milton Keynes.
Dr Tony Cox, CEO at UK Biocentre, said:
“This award acknowledges more than 25 years of relentless commitment to
public healthcare and more recently the extraordinary work in supporting the national response to the COVID19 pandemic. At UK Biocentre I have
been personally privileged to work alongside him and can think of no better recognition of his outstanding support to UK Biocentre.”
In response to being presented with the OBE, Dr Sudhanva commented:
“I am honoured and humbled by this recognition. This honour is dedicated to
all my fellow laboratory-based clinical virologists, clinical microbiologists, clinical scientists, biomedical scientists, senior assistant technical officers,
administrative staff, volunteers, managers, IT and procurement teams across UK, whose magnificent behind-the-scenes efforts have been such a crucial part of
the UK’s COVID-19 response.”
Dr Sudhanva has been a Consultant Medical Virologist at King’s College London since 2004, and is the current Chair of the Panel of Examiners in Virology at the Royal College of Pathologists, and has held several roles with the Royal College of Pathologists, and with multiple other academic organisations.
